Prerequisites

PADI advanced or CMAS 2 Star or equivalent with a minimum of 10 logged dives, and aged 18 or over.

Course Content

Lectures

• Orientation and introduction
• Historical developments of Nitrox.
• The physiology of oxygen, too much, too little and correct mix for various depths.
• Decompression theory and equivalent air depths of EANx mixtures, dive tables.
• Dive planning and gas analysis.
• Equipment requirements, cleanliness, maintenance etc.
• Complete student workbook assignments.
• Written exam.

Practical

Two open water dives with Nitrox. The instructor may elect to use the applicable Nitrox tables or plan the dives as if air were used. Practical gas analysis will also be taught. The dives may be waived at the instructors discretion providing the student holds a CMAS 2 star qualification, dive leader certification and a minimum of 50 logged dives.

Limits of the Course

• No dives below an oxygen partial pressure of 1.4 bar.
• No dives requiring actual decompression stops on the Nitrox tables.
• No direct ascent to the surface without making a safety stop at 6m for at least 1 minute.

Limits of the qualification

• The basic Nitrox diver is certified to use only Nitrox 32 and Nitrox 36 as diving gases.
• Basic Nitrox dives will be conducted within the no-stop recreational limits.

Course Cost

This is a one-day course at £150 fully inclusive of Student manual,certification etc. Boat fees are not included and are charged as extra at £40 per person per day.
