This is a 4 day course, which upon successful completion you will be a certified diver PADI Open Water Diver and able to dive to a maximum depth of 18m with a buddy independently of an instructor.

Initially the course is based at the Scapa Scuba Dive Centre where we complete the confined dives in the sheltered shallow water and the classroom sessions before heading down to the Churchill Barrier Blockships for 4 open water dives.

The advantages of learning to dive with Scapa Scuba include the facts that we teach in small groups making the learning experience personal to your individual needs; the entire course is run in the sea taking away the need for swimming pool training; location allows us to teach the Open Water dives on wrecks sunk between 1915 and 1940 to protect the British Fleet anchored in Scapa Flow. The fact that the student is in the sea from the start means that the transition from the confined water to the open water is minimal. When you complete an Open Water course with Scapa Scuba you will be diving in a drysuit, this saves additional courses later on and mean that you are comfortable throughout.
