This course examines the theory, methods and procedures of planned stage decompression diving. This program is designed as a stand-alone course or it may be taught in conjunction with the Advanced Nitrox course. With a maximum operating depth of 45m, this course is your first step beyond the normal sport diving limits. The objective of this course is to train divers how to plan and safely conduct decompression dives.
Prerequisites
Minimum age 18
Minimum certification of qualified diver with proof of 25 logged dives.
Course Content - The specific skills this course will highlight are:
Theory - Includes such topics as contingency planning, why we need to decompress, decompression options and techniques, decompression breathing gases, physics, physiology, equipment requirements and considerations, dive tables vs. computers, dive planning including gas management and the use of deco software etc.
Practical - 4 open water dives focusing on kit set up, buoyancy and trim, ascent/descent techniques, gas management, valve shutdowns, stage bottle work, gas switching, out of gas scenarios, DSMB deployment, emergency procedures.
