TDI/PADI NITROX DIVER COURSE

This is the entry-level certification course for recreational divers wishing to use Nitrox as a breathing gas. The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedure for using Nitrox mixes from 22% to 40% oxygen content. Having successfully completed this course students are encouraged to continue on to the TDI Advanced Nitrox course.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum age 15
  • Minimum certification of Open Water Diver [or equivalent].

    Course Content

    Practical Since entry level Nitrox is essentially an information and academic based course, no dives are specifically required as there are no in water skills to evaluate.

    Theory

    Includes such topics as advantages and disadvantages of EAN, history of EAN, physiology, oxygen, nitrogen, physics/pressure review, partial pressure, equipment considerations for up to and over 40% oxygen content, dive tables, equivalent air depths, switching mixes on repetitive dives, dive computers, oxygen toxicity hazards and depth limits, etc.

    Course Cost:
    This course is generally conducted over two evenings or can be bolted onto guided dives etc. £110 fully inclusive of student manual, certification etc.

    Equipment Requirements
    Please contact the dive centre for exact equipment requirements for each course. As a general guide, Adv Nitrox can be completed in a single cylinder with a pony, Deco Procedures and Extended Range should be completed with a manifolded twinset and the appropriate number of stage bottles. Dive computer, back up timers, slates, DSMB, reels etc as required.
