Tec Level 1

This five day course covers the essentials that are necessary in any form of technical diving.

During the course the diver will use a twinset and stage cylinders. The course content includes, but is not limited to, gas management, decompression planning, equipment skills and emergency scenarios.

Upon successful completion, the diver will be qualified to make extended no-decompression dives up to 40m using multiple gases with a content of up to 60% oxygen.

Classroom sessions include theory work and practical applications as well as at least 7 open water dives [at the Churchill Barriers and in Scapa Flow on the main German Wrecks].

Prerequisites are:
Minimum age 18 years old
PADI Advanced Open Water [or equivalent] and above
PADI Deep Speciality [or equivalent]
PADI Nitrox Speciality [or equivalent]
Participants should have a minimum of 50 dives. Of these 12 should be below 18m, 6 below 30m and 10 using Nitrox*.

Course cost = £750** [5 days] For 2 people or more booking together we offer a 10% discount making the course cost £675**

* Divers who meet the qualification requirements but have not kept a logbook documenting experience will be required to sign an affidavit stating they have the required number/type of dives.

** Course costs are inclusive of instruction, boat fees and manuals [with the exception of the note on Discover Tec option 2]. Students are responsible for equipment and gas costs.

Equipment

Any extra equipment needed can be either hired or purchased through Scapa Scuba. However, at this level of diving [Discover Tec Option 1 excluded] it is usual for the diver to have the necessary equipment to enable them to continue advanced diving beyond the course.

Basic Equipment [in addition to standard drysuit, mask fins etc]

Twin cylinder’s, with isolation manifold
Wing and harness
2 x regulator one with 2m/7ft long hose, one SPG
2 x depth/timing device computer or bottom timers
Delayed Surface Marker Buoy with reel
Dive Slate / Wet Notes
2 x cutting devices

Tec Levels 1 and 2 will also need

At least one decompression/stage cylinder and regulator Primary Light, preferably with at least 1.5 hours burn time. An umbilical lamp seems to be the most popular option.
